THE Alliance members (Hapag-Lloyd, ONE and Yang Ming) are to replace all nominal capacity 8,100-10,100 TEU ships of their Far East-Med “ MD1 ” service by larger vessels with a nominal capacity of 13,500-14,200 TEUs as from April. The upgrade coincides with the implementation of their revised joint offering on the major East West trades, which was announced last December. The “ MD1” will start turning in 11 weeks ( one week extra ) as additional calls at Jeddah are included in the rotation on both ways. The revised Asia-Med loop will call at Qingdao, Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Singapore, Jeddah, Damietta, Barcelona, Valencia, Tangier, Genoa, Damietta, Jeddah, Singapore, Hong Kong, Qingdao. The” MD1” is the third and last of the three Far East-Med loops of THE Alliance to be upgraded to the nominal capacity 13,000 TEU scale.
